News News News: News Steak & Grill

Where the hell is the best steak in town?

It's top secret news.

Architecturally News Steaks & Grill is perpendicular to the expected angle which means it's in a sort of cul de sac off Theppraya Road but appears to be facing the main road too.

Not only was it the best steak I've had in Pattaya, the tale of News Steaks & Grill's transformation from unloved business to best steak in town is worth asking the owner Jack about.

Attention to detail, conviviality, good conversation make a fine meal.

These are just a few words about Jack, a lovely business, top notch restaurant, and good energy place to eat a relaxing steak while enjoying your girlfriend nibble at the Thai.

It's so good there's no need to tell every Somchai, Tom and Harry how to find it. They'll tweet the game away.

Planet Earth Beach Club - Grand ReOpening

Planet Earth Beach Club on Jomtien Beach Road Soi 15 is probably about as close to, if not better than any Ibiza style pool party you may have experienced. We had an excellent time meeting new people and old friends as well as sampling great music with super hot girls and plenty of great looking guys too. We also noticed a great multicultural mix with just the right amount of first class transsexuals and Russian talent spicing up the scene.

The Planet Earth action starts every Saturday from 1pm to 1am with their Black Butterfly event which was held on the Sunday following the Grand Reopening "Planet Earth White Party" If that sounds confusing just head over to the website or facebook page or make a note of what goes down each Saturday and Sunday:

Jomtien Beach Sunsets

The range of sunsets visible from Jomtien Beach is quite extraordinary. We may not have the cleanest beach in the world 365 days a year, or the tidiest visitors on Thai Public Holidays but the sunsets are spectacular and a privilege to witness.

It's like living in an oil painting after 6pm for about 30 to 45 minutes. Nobody charges me for it either.

Some of these photographs belong to Scott Innes and they can be purchased here.

Jomtien Beach Rainbows

This is the first rainbow we've seen from Jomtien and it was quite spectacular in real life. It was possibly the largest rainbow we can recall ever seeing, but either way it stretched over Koh Lam (or Koh Larn) island and stayed for about 20 minutes for the time we observed it.

How long it was there before we saw it is hard to say but it was broad and deeply coloured. It felt like a new day, and today in our Facebook streams we came across this about rainbows.

Jomtien Beach 360 Degree Panorama

Jomtien Beach Pattaya in Thailand

These Panorama type photos can give a much better feel for what Jomtien beach looks like as they allow the viewer to rotate the photograph and take in a wider view. We've also posted some Jomtien Beach snapshots over here if you want to get a wider diversity of photography.

Jomtien Beach Snapshots

It's still low season here on Jomtien Beach so the weekends are mainly full of Thais making a break from Bangkok or Chonburi the province where Jomtien is located. A small trickle of Russians are beginning to take their holidays here and the first smattering of foreign tourists are on the beach in the morning trying to catch the suns rays.

Most of the day the tide is out unlike during in high season when for some reason the water laps close to the beach road.

The weather is currently windy and cool. The fishermen aren't always out in their boats like during the peak periods and so the kiteboarders and windsurfers take advantage of the consistently excellent gales, particularly in the late afternoon to exploit the power of nature on the sea.

It's A Relaxing Day On Jomtien Beach

The seas are usually calm when the winds are easterly on Jomtien, so today is a relaxing morning on Jomtien Beach with nice chilled vibes.

The photo above includes a lifeguard lookout but we've never seen anyone sitting in them.

We suspect that the cordoned off swimming areas replaced the lifeguards but if anyone can remember seeing them or has a photo we can post we'd love to hear from you.
