Sattahip Naval Base & U-Tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield

During the Vietnam War it was crucial for the United States to assist Thailand Militarily and so the Naval Base of Sattahip and Airbase of U-Tapao were built. This is a propaganda movie by the US military so it's a bit tedious in delivery.

However it's an interesting insight into the scale of construction needed during those times.

Hat Sai Kaew Beach - Chumpol Sattahip Naval Base

Hat Saikaew beach is on a Royal Thai Navy base, 20 kilometres South of Jomtien Beach. It's a very pleasant scenic drive when on the base, almost European in parts, and is in a well tended natural setting. Access to the beach is 30 Baht for Thais and 80 Baht for foreigners.

The beach was over crowded with Russian tourists the day we went and their boats clogged up the bay.

The Water however was still cleaner and more sparkling than further North in Jomtien.

We'll go back during low season and write an update below, although for complete details including food and overnight stays these two blog posts are all you need.
