A very conveniently located clinic in the Jomtien area that speaks English is the Chanya Medical Clinic. We were there recently as we wished to avoid the costs of using a hospital, and the friend in need of medical assistance was an 87 year old Englishman with hearing difficulties and cellulitis which is a skin condition that older people often have when the ability to heal naturally deteriorates.
The check in procedure is at reception and a few minutes later we were being diagnosed by the professional eye of Dr Chanya who then leaves it to a superb nurse to clean the wound, inject an antibiotic and dress the wounds including a bump on the head.
The prices were much more modest than hospital charges and the convenience of being so close saved on travel as the dressing needed replacing on a daily basis. Later in the week we were there for a female friend who needed a check-up and the advice and procedure were similarly smooth and professional.
Lot's of different patients were seen at the clinic but the dressing of wounds seems to be the most frequent kind of medical case ranging from motorbike accidents, irritation from new tattoos and elderly patients with skin complaints.
Chanya is a walk-in clinic without appointment and is open from 9.00am to 6pm Monday to Sunday though you may wish to check before heading out there on 038 303-762 just in case of any changes.
